At Leesburg Elementary, we serve students with a variety of educational needs, and we strive to develop empathy and adaptability for all. Recently, one of our 2nd graders noticed a friend with communication challenges who was upset at recess. He realized that pictures may help when speaking is hard. At home that evening, he made 4 pictures for his friend to use when he is upset. The friend was very excited that he was noticed and helped by another student. Thank you to all of our Blazers who find ways to include our students with exceptional needs!

I am hot, I am cold, I am hurt, and somebody is being mean are the four communication tools the student made for his peer.
Mark your calendars! We are THRILLED to welcome the future class of 2036! If your child will be five years old before Aug. 1, 2023, we invite you to Kindergarten Round Up on March 21st. Please attend your home school for the round-up event; if you are unsure which elementary district you live in, please contact one of the school offices for additional information. Kindergarten Round-Up will contain important information about registration, immunizations, school safety, before & after school care, along with the STEM and Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs. Registration for all new K-12 families will open immediately following Kindergarten Round-Up. Registration for returning families will open on April 17, 2023. Registration information can be found at www.warsawschools.org/o/warsaw/page/registration1. All incoming kindergarten families interested in DLI must have pre-registration and registration completed by June 1 in order to be entered in the DLI lottery, which is tentatively scheduled for June 7. Welcome Class of 2036! #WCSmission

Current and future Lakeview students, here is a unique course option for you to consider! In Mr. Weaver's PLTW Design & Modeling course, students learn how to use modeling software, 3D printers, and other engineering tools to solve problems including ID tags and skimmer cars. If they have spare time, their creations are limited only by their imaginations. The pictured students created spinning top toys, post-it dispensers, Harry Potter wands, jewelry and pencil holders, a game-controller stand, and a mug. Soon, they'll start designing and prototyping the popular wooden puzzle block challenge! PLTW Design & Modeling is a nine-week elective available to 7th and 8th graders, where students learn how to ask questions, generate strong ideas, communicate through sketching, and build and test their prototypes. If your child might be interested in this course, be sure to add it to the course-selection sheet! Mr. Weaver is glad to answer any questions at jweaver@warsawschools.org

Students assisting other students creates an atmosphere of empathy. First Graders at Leesburg Elementary were impacted by 4th and 5th grade students. During a science experiment to discover how a liquid turns into a solid, Mrs. Miller's class and Sr. Castellanos's classes came to the aid of Sr. Duran's classes and Mrs. Cox's class. The older students encouraged and modeled for the younger students as well as validated their learning experience.

First Graders working with Fourth Graders to discover how a liquid turns to a solid.
Sr. Duran's class dialoguing in Spanish about science with Sr. Castellanos's class.
Students enjoying the results of working together.
First Graders and Fifth Graders encouraged one another as they endured the cold experience of making ice cream.
