Ms. Trier, the art teacher at Lakeview, is assisting students by offering them the opportunity to create a unique artisan coffee bag design for Generous Coffee. Students are challenged to produce a work of art on a 20 x 16 canvas that Generous Coffee can feature on their upcoming coffee bag. All entries will be exhibited in their new community space at 121 W Center Street in downtown Warsaw. A big thank you to Carmen Trier for sharing this opportunity and for dedicating her time and expertise to support a community project. #ExperienceLakeview #experiencewcs
Mrs. Boggs and Mrs. Wood received an anonymous gift of flowers and chocolate from a tiger family this week. Lakeview has the best parents! On top of this example of generosity, our PTO is very active. They not only provide activities for the students, but they also regularly treat the staff with snacks in the lounge and encouraging notes. From flowers and chocolate to snacks and emails the staff wants to let our parents know that we appreciate you all!

A community & global partnership opportunity has been embraced by Lakeview students who have risen to the challenge - donating boxes of books from their homes to partner with a local organization, Blue River Digital, for a global cause.
Through givingbasics.org, students learned that Malawi is ranked as one of the poorest countries in Africa. Their main language is English, which makes the offer of books easy. Giving Basics is a new nonprofit started by Weston and Amy Sigler in Columbia City, Indiana. They have worked in Africa for over 23 years, and have served in Malawi for the last 5.
Giving Basics hopes to fill a container with library supplies including tables, whiteboards, and as many books as possible.
Books that are needed: Early Reader books k-3rd grade level. English as a second language booksGrammar and Creative writing textbooksGeography booksWorld History booksNational Geographic magazinesAnimal Science booksFull-color Biology / Science / Health books/ Physics and ChemistryMath textbooks from any grade levelSelf Help books: gardening, agriculture, electricity, plumbing, windmill, animal farming, car maintenance, Biblical resources of any kind. Picture Bibles, Study BiblesNewer Encyclopedia sets.
Thanks to all who have contributed toward filling a container with books. Please reach out to Amanda Scroggs at Lakeview Library or to Amy Sigler at Blue River Digital if you would like to donate books.

Students at Lakeview Middle School recently had the chance to meet author Abi Zimmerman. As part of the "Lunch with an Author" program, Abi engaged students in discussions about her Sci-Fi novel, Echo 208. During Tiger Time, more students participated, asking questions and delving deeper into Abi's writing process, publishing journey, and plans for a sequel. Lakeview Middle School librarian Amanda Scroggs commended Special Education Teacher Stacy Mikel for organizing the visit. A signed copy of Abi's book will be available for students to borrow. Special thanks to Abi Zimmerman for inspiring young writers and sharing her passion for literature at Lakeview.
