You can put a smile on the face of a Spartan this holiday season.

When you're out and about this weekend, don't forget to pick up some jam or jelly in plastic jars or squeeze bottles* to help us do our part in this year's Food Drive for Combined Community Services. Jefferson has been asked to collect over 700 jellies/jams, so please help us reach our school's goal. Let's stock CCC's shelves as we approach the busy holiday season.
If YOU would like to support our community in this way, feel free to drop off jellies or jams to the front office. We'd be so grateful for extra help from our friends and neighbors!
For students/staff who bring in at least one jam/jelly, wearing jammies on Friday the 22nd is your reward! Now that's a sweet deal!
*no glass please

Join us TONIGHT for some STEM fun!
Retiring resource officer Joe Bumbaugh was this year's recipient of a flag that flew over Jefferson. This has become a tradition at our Veteran's Day program, where our school presents a flag to someone special . "Officer Joe" was Jefferson's resource officer for many years and also served in the US Navy.
Officer Joe handed out cookies to students at lunch and was also celebrated by staff. He will be missed!

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of retired teacher Linda Flenar, who taught at Jefferson for 37 years.

The students voted, and the results have been tabulated for this year's Pumpkin Character Contest! Everyone did a fantastic and creative job.

Jefferson 5th-grade students visited Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams today and went through three rotations: one about weathering and erosion, one about zoo/phytoplankton and looking at samples in microscopes, and the third station about topographic maps and creating a local lake using a sand table.

Kindergarten went to Lilly Center today! They learned about parts and life cycles of crayfish, turtles, and fish.
Thank you to Mrs. McCammon for the photos. #WarsawINSPIRES
Mr. J.R., looking like a space explorer, was out "beekeeping" bright(?) and early(!) this morning and reports that our Jefferson bees are very active and LOVING this warmer weather. He was also collecting a few larger rocks to put in their water, so that they have a place to land safely while getting a drink.
Thank you, Mr. J.R.!

Jefferson students were recently privileged to experience "Lake in the Library" for the third year, thanks to our partnership with Lilly Center for Lakes and Streams and our on-loan aquarium that simulates area lakes.
Four Lilly Center educators presented engaging, grade-level friendly lessons during Digital Learning specials the week prior to Fall Break. Whether learning about the features of a fish, the practical problems with invasive species, how fish use camouflaging and schooling, the zones of a lake, or other topics related to this local ecosystem, students were exposed to and challenged by various factors affecting this "in-our-backyard" habitat.
Ask your student(s) about what was discussed with their class and how you can work together as a family to help protect our lakes and streams.

Looking for a fun, free, outdoor activity to enjoy before Fall Break comes to an end? Consider the StoryWalk on the Beyer Farm Trail by Pike Lake. Acorn Was a Little Wild by Jen Arena is the book featured on the walk. Not only does it allow you and your family to read this exciting book together, but it also offers suggestions for activities to do that are associated with some of the pages, like "Take a moment to feel the wind in your hair like Acorn."
The weather is supposed to be beautiful. We hope you can get outside and enjoy it. The StoryWalk is one way to take it all in as a family, right here in our own community.
