Mrs. Fugate

Washington is thrilled to be welcoming back Mrs. Jennifer Fugate as our Behavior Support Liaison! Mrs. Fugate served as Washington's BSL last year and is returning to us again full time. Her background is in Social Work from Goshen College and she has been with Warsaw Community Schools for the past five years serving at three of our elementary schools as a behavior support liaison case manager.

The Behavior Support Liaison role involves supporting our school through providing a safe place for student social and emotional needs to be met as they engage in learning happening in the classroom.  Mrs. Fugate serves students in a variety of ways such as small groups, one-on-one and teaching lessons to classes. As teachers work with student behavior needs in the classroom, Mrs. Fugate supports staff through her reset classroom, curriculum resources and materials, and collaborating to problem-solve different situations. Mrs. Fugate is perfect for this role. As she states, "I love working with kiddos!! I love their sense of adventure and their hope for the future even in times of turmoil." The role of the Behavior Support Liaison is a tremendous resource within the school that makes our entire school community better.

Mrs. Fugate has established many connections with students, families and staff over the past few years at Washington. Students naturally seek out Mrs. Fugate because she has established strong relationships that are safe, inviting and supportive. Mrs. Fugate sees the key to being effective in her role is her ability to build these connections. "I work passionately to help students cultivate resilience and self-advocacy. I desire to see students excited and ready to face their futures."

When not at school, Mrs. Fugate loves all things nature. She spends her time hiking and camping wherever she can find waterfalls, ravines, cliffs and mountains as they are her favorites. Mrs. Fugate is married to her husband Joe, has two children Wyatt and Addison, and is a grandma to three littles. Spending time with family and friends refreshes and rejuvenates her soul. As she says, "it simply time best spent!" Welcome Mrs. Fugate back to Washington, we are so fortunate to have you return!
