Cross Country- Girls

 The first official Elementary Cross Country Season and Championships brought together over 300 young athletes from the Warsaw Community Elementary schools, showcasing impressive talent, determination, and team spirit. The meet featured competitions for 3rd and 4th graders as well as 5th and 6th graders, with both girls and boys competing in separate divisions.

Here’s a recap of the standout performances:

3rd and 4th Grade Girls

Jubilee Simfukwe of Jefferson led the charge in the 3rd and 4th Grade Girls race, finishing in 1st place with a strong performance. Kinsley Purdy, also from Jefferson, followed closely behind in 2nd place. JoJo Pixton of Eisenhower took the 3rd spot, rounding out the podium finishers. Leesburg’s Palmer Miller finished 4th, while Harper Miller from Madison completed the top five.

In the team competition, Leesburg captured 1st place in dominant fashion. Palmer Miller (4th), Fiona Fisk (7th), Ayla Allen (12th), Maddie Glova (13th), and Finley Smith (14th) contributed to Leesburg’s victory. Madison secured 2nd place, with Jefferson rounding out the top three.

 3rd and 4th Grade Boys

The 3rd and 4th Grade Boys race saw Crew Wiggins of Eisenhower claim the title, with a commanding 1st place finish. Oliver Patrick of Jefferson took 2nd, and John Warner of Leesburg finished 3rd. Eisenhower’s Calvin Silveus was 4th, and Nash Polston 5th of Leesburg.

Eisenhower's boys dominated the team standings with strong performances from Crew Wiggins (1st), Calvin Silveus (4th), Deacon Moore (6th), Baxter Hodorek (8th), and Zeke Gutwein (13th). Leesburg finished 2nd in the team standings, followed by Washington in 3rd place.

5th and 6th Grade Girls

In the 5th and 6th Grade Girls division, Elliott Lock of Claypool crossed the finish line first, clocking in at 10:22.53. Lucy Purdy of Jefferson placed 2nd, and Kate Schini of Eisenhower took 3rd. Rounding out the Top 5 was Brie Stookey of Madison in 4th and Londyn Pixton of Eisenhower in 5th.

Eisenhower’s winning team was rounded out by Londyn Pixton (5th), Lyla Sudoff (7th), Penelope Hill (11th), and Kira Baumgardner (15th). Leesburg took 2nd in the team standings, with Madison finishing 3rd.

Magnus Granger of Eisenhower was the standout in the 5th and 6th Grade Boys division, winning the race with a blistering time of 9:29.67. Xavier Bright of Claypool finished 2nd, while Sully Boren and Weston Boyer of Eisenhower placed 3rd and 4th.  Nolan Kesler of Jefferson was 5th.

With additional top performances from Theo Silveus (10th) and Henry Gough (11th), Eisenhower comfortably claimed the 1st place team trophy. Jefferson came in 2nd, followed by Madison in 3rd.

 The Elementary XC Championships was a success, with thrilling performances from all competitors.  This event promises to be the first of many, as these young athletes continue to develop their skills and passion for cross country running.  The Warsaw Cross Country Programs are excited about the future of the programs.  Go Tigers!
