Last week, our school had its very first Zoo Boo Day! Students at Harrison dressed up as zoo animals. 6th grade students were dressed as zoo keepers. We got to parade around our school and see everyone's costumes while listening to fun Halloween music!

Miss.Kelly's class had such a fun time decorating the windows at Penguin Point for thanksgiving. After painting, Penguin Point provided a delicious lunch for the students. A big thank you to penguin point and our art teacher, Miss. Murphy for providing such a fun opportunity for our students! #ExperienceWCS #WCSmission
Our young book enthusiasts from Miss. Kelly’s 5th grade class and Miss. Castro’s kindergarten class came together to read books & make a fun fall name craft. We love our book buddies at Harrison.💜 📚
Way to show leadership 5th grade!

Our kindergarten classes took a fun field trip to Knollbrook Farm last week. Students got to visit the dairy farm, feed the animals, go on a hay ride, & pick out a pumpkin or gourd. Everyone had a blast !😊

E-Club members had great fun harvesting vegetables and sharing them with the school cafeteria and other classes. They enjoyed eating salsa and sampling vegetables they picked from the garden, too! Garden leaders also discovered several trees on our property that are descendants of historical trees from properties of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Harriet Beecher Stowe! Thank you E-club & Mrs. McClintok for your amazing work in the garden ! #ExperienceWCS #WCSmission
Dress up as an animal on Halloween! We can’t wait to see all the different animal costumes you come up with !😊🎃
The 6th grade students at Harrison spent a week learning and reading about sharks. Students learned about the habitat, anatomy, and predator/prey relationships of these creatures. The week culminated with the students having the opportunity to dissect Dogfish Sharks!
#ExperienceWCS #WCSmission
For September, we celebrated our huskies who showed characteristics of Habit 1: be proactive. We also had Mrs. Meyers's 2nd grade and all of the 6th-grade students showcase a dance with motions to the 7 Habits.
Next month we are focusing on Habit 2: begin with the end in mind.
Good job Huskies!

Dear Harrison Families of Canterbury,
Like last year, all Harrison students from the Canterbury neighborhood will be afforded the opportunity to participate in a “walking bus” for the 2023-24 school year. Students may ride their bicycles or walk on their own (or with you), but may also participate in our “walking bus” as an option.
How Does the “Walking Bus” Work?
Morning Student Pick Up:
A designated staff member of Harrison Elementary School will meet your student at the Canterbury Office at:
Monday (9:25 a.m.)
Tuesday-Friday (8:35 a.m.)
2-Hour Delay (10:35 a.m.)
The designated Harrison staff member will depart the Canterbury Office promptly at the designated time and safely walk the group of students from Canterbury to Harrison Elementary School. The walk is approximately .4 miles (9 minutes).
Students will be expected to be on time to the meeting location at the Canterbury Office each day. Students who arrive after the “walking bus” has departed from the Canterbury Office will be the responsibility of families to get to school.
Importantly, students will walk on the sidewalk from Canterbury and Harrison Elementary at all times until reaching the designated crosswalk in front of the school. At that time, we will have a crossing guard assist our “walking bus” cross the street at the designated crosswalk and enter the building through Harrison’s front doors.
After School Student Drop Off:
At student dismissal at 3:50 p.m., students from Canterbury will be dismissed from their classrooms to the front foyer.
A designated staff member of Harrison Elementary will convene all students from Canterbury at approximately 3:50-3:55 p.m.
The designated Harrison staff member will depart Harrison Elementary at approximately 3:55 p.m. and walk the group of students from Harrison Elementary to the Canterbury Office. Again, the walk is approximately .4 miles (9 minutes).
We will have a crossing guard assist the “walking bus” cross the street at the designated crosswalk. Thereafter, students will remain on the sidewalk between Canterbury and Harrison Elementary at all times until reaching the central meeting location at the Canterbury Office
In limited situations when unsafe weather (lightning/storms) conditions warrant that a bus be sent to pick up students from Canterbury Office, student pick up will take place at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Monday and 9:00 a.m. Tuesday-Friday at the Canterbury Office. In this case, a text message will be sent to notify parents communicating that a bus will be sent in lieu or a staff member with the walking bus.
Warsaw Community Schools is deeply committed to the safety and education of all of our students.
In Partnership,
Matt Deeds
