Many thanks to Ms. Kresca and Ms. Arnett from Purdue Extension for teaching our 3rd and 5th graders about the parts of a plant, caring for our Tower gardens, and maintaining the ph balance of the soil. They also brought them yummy apples to enjoy! We appreciate Purdue Extension for supporting our STEM program! #WarsawInspires
Our 5th and 6th graders participated in packing meals at the Feed My Starving Children event. What an amazing way to see what the money we helped raise for the event was going towards and to help others all over the world!

Our 6th graders were the first students to test out the new STEM lab tables and chairs. They were in the STEM lab to dissect squids. Some students were intrigued by the squids while others were not so sure about the experience.

Our 3rd graders had an amazing field trip to the boardwalk at Pike Lake last week. Along the boardwalk, students stopped at stations to learn about soil and water sampling and identifying animals by the footprints and scat they left behind.

Have you ever heard your student talk about Heggerty and found yourself wondering what that means? Heggerty is a teaching tool used to help young students get better at hearing and working with the sounds in words. Think of it like training for their ears and brains to recognize and play with the building blocks of language. The program involves short, daily activities where students practice things like rhyming, breaking words into sounds, and blending sounds together. This skill-building is important because it helps them become better readers and writers as they grow.
This picture shows Miss Flohr and her students doing their daily Heggerty lesson. Notice that it's not just speaking, but also hand motions that go along with the activities.

Today our students participated in PBIS stations. During these stations students learn/are reminded of the expectations and procedures throughout the school. Doing these stations ensures that all students and staff are held to the same expectations. Stations include restroom, cafeteria, technology, recess, bus, and parent pick-up.
